Background
Janet Marlowe is the younger, less favored daughter of Wilma Marlowe. Her elder sister is Natalie, who she always felt inferior to growing up, encountering emotional abuse at the hands of her mother. This emotional abuse led to deep psychological issues, an unhealthy envy of her sister's life, and an inferiority complex to Natalie. She had an uncanny resemblance to her older sister, while having darker hair and being overweight. This unhealthy jealousy led her to believe that she always had nothing and Natalie always had everything. In her paranoid delusions, she attempted to take over Natalie's life by losing weight, dying her hair blond, and throwing her down a well.
Character History
Before coming to Pine Valley, Janet had a loveless and emotionally abuse marriage to Axel Green. While trying to get over her divorce, she came to live with her sister, Natalie, in Pine Valley in 1991. Natalie had always looked out for Janet, but because she had grown up with a serious inferiority complex to her older sister, Janet believed she deserved to have all of what Natalie had, including her fiancé Trevor Dillon.
